Aug. 22nd, 2004 02:16 pmI just had a marvelous vacation!
Since Sarah's band was playing a 10-day run on a little island in Lake Erie near Sandusky, and since the band members each got a free room with 2 double beds, I drove there and stayed with her for 4 days. I watched Mustang Sally perform 4 times, met some really nice fans who threw a bbq for the band and invited me as well, sold band merchandise during breaks, slept late, had an ice cream cone for breakfast at 1 PM, watched the Olympic reruns at 2 AM, and spent lots of time talking with Sarah about all kinds of stuff. I didn't have to decide anything more complicated than what I wanted to eat.
One of the most fun parts was seeing Sarah being treated as a celebrity. As we walked around town just window-shopping, people who'd seen the show would come up and start talking to her, raving about how marvelous she'd been. Sarah was taken aback nearly every time this happened, as she doesn't see how the general public perceives her and the rest of the band as VIPs, and she doesn't see that she's doing anything particularly special.
