Reminiscing

bratfarrar made a post recently about looking through her LJ entries from years ago and being bemused at what she wrote about back then, and it made me take a look back at my original LJ posts.

I joined in 2004, and posted sporadically about the antics of my then-teenage daughters, moving, and starting in 2008 I posted anecdotes about the insanity of my new job. I had 3 people who occasionally commented.

Then on September 15, 2009, I made my first post about Supernatural, after having just devoured the first 4 seasons via dvd in 3 weeks...and my LJ has never been the same  :)

It's really awesome to have made so many friends via fandom! But it's also sad to see how many names that used to turn up regularly in comments aren't posting any more  :(  So I especially appreciate those of you who are still here!

BTW your first ever comment on my journal was 11/12/09 responding to a little short I wrote about Sam sewing himself up in Mystery Spot.

Have you always had SPN as part of your LJ or did you start off using it for something different?

SPN was the first thing that ever made me want to go search for people to talk about it with on the web😊 My husband hated the show and I was starving LOL I started on a Forum, and gaelicspirit´s posts (crossposted at the Forum) led me here five years ago.

My entire journal before SPN is privatized because it is too embarrassing to deal with. Which isn't to say stuff post-SPN isn't, haha, but at least most of it has to do with Supernatural, so there's that at least!! :P I opened my journal in early 2005 and it became a primarily SPN journal also in September 2009, just like you!

I found fandom through SPN in 2006, but lurked anonymously on ffnet for years. I didn't join LJ until 2011. So while the content hasn't really changed, I certainly have in that I'm more active and open about it now then I was back then.

I know what you mean about that feeling of sad nostalgia - and I wasn't even here for the real heyday of SPN on LJ. But even reading older fics and seeing not only the sheer volume of comments but the number of names that used to be stalwarts over here is a bit sad. I know nothing lasts forever, but still, endings are melancholy.

On the plus side - YOU are still here! So yay!
