Just got back from a quick trip to Phoenix to check out a couple of colleges with Erica. (ASU and Collins) Now you'd think I'd have done this before with Sarah going to college, but I didn't, she hitched a ride with someone else to check out Boston schools. So I didn't know what to expect, but it turned out to be extremely worthwhile--learned a lot about two very different approaches to teaching graphic arts which is what Erica is interested in--and I had a ball just hanging with her alone for 3 days. We had the most fun, talking and looking at cactus and palm trees and getting lost. Make that getting lost a lot...We arrived at Phoenix at 11:30 PM, rented a car and drove 30 miles for over 2 hours trying to find the Red Roof Inn that was 1 1/2 miles from the airport...That sounds incredibly lame, but it was dark and the streets that looked like they were through streets on our map kept dead-ending. I made more U-turns in those 2 hours than in the rest of my 20+ years of driving combined...
But it was really so awesome just to hang with Erica and experience something new together.
